This bulletin explains personal liberties as the core elements of our right to self-expression, and clarifies violations of personal liberty are commonly in the form of arbitrary arrest and detention.
In addition to providing a list of governmental obligations that safeguard violations of personal liberties, the bulletin goes further to cite domestic statutes and international instruments that call upon governments to fulfill their human rights obligations surrounding the protection and promotion of personal liberties.
The bulletin then turns to the systemic violations of the right to personal liberty in Zimbabwe, and offers recommendations that aim to retain the right to personal liberty.
The full bulletin can be found here.
