Death Notice – Eileen May Sawyer
It is with great sorrow that the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum (the Forum) advises of the sudden and untimely passing on of its first Director Mrs. Eileen May Sawyer. Mrs. Sawyer passed away on Friday the 10th of August 2012 after a short illness. Eileen fought the good fight and she kept the faith until the very last day of her earthly life – she has finished the race. Up until her death, Eileen spent most of her time tirelessly and diligently working for the protection and promotion of human rights in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is poorer for her passing, but richer for her life.
In celebration of the life of a woman who dedicated almost her entire life to the struggle for access to justice for all, a requiem mass and funeral wake will be held on Tuesday 21st August 2012. The service and funeral wake will be held at 10am at Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, Mt Pleasant, Harare. The Church is situated at the intersection of the Chase and Pendenis Road.
Friends, relatives, members of civil society and all who care about human rights kindly accept this intimation.
Eileen’s legacy lives on. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
