Zimbabwe has been experiencing sustained political violence since February 2000. The Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum – the Human Rights Forum – has been documenting and reporting upon this violence throughout. The Human Rights Forum issued 8 reports during 2000, and these reports are available on the website indicated above.
The Human Rights Forum has already issued 1 report this year, and will continue its policy of issuing periodic reports on the political violence during 2001. This will be in addition to the weekly reports currently being issued on the election challenges cases in the Zimbabwe High court.
These reports are being issued in order that interested parties has the most up-to-date and reliable reports on the political violence currently afflicting Zimbabwe. The reports are based upon the current cases of violence seen by the Human Rights Legal Unit [HRLU] of the Human Rights [cases in italics], and on the press releases in the Herald, the Daily News, the Standard and the Financial Gazette.
