Human Rights Monitor publishes reports and analyses about human rights in Zimbabwe, in order to hold the new government responsible and accountable to its people, and to help develop a strong human rights culture in Zimbabwe.
This edition of Human Rights Monitor discusses a tragedy at the National Sports Stadium in which five people died as a result of the police behavior in attempting to control a rowdy crowd. The report also discusses the continuing maltreatment of refugees in Zimbabwe. Finally, the report provides an analysis, based on press reports, of the human rights situation in Zimbabwe following the 2000 elections by addressing violations of civil  and political rights.
