On 24 April 2014, the Standing Rules and Orders Committee of the Parliament of Zimbabwe released a Call for Public Nominations for Persons To Serve on the Independent Commissions in line with Chapter 12 of Zimbabwe’s new Constitution.  The Constitution establishes five independent commissions namely, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission, the Zimbabwe Gender Commission, the Zimbabwe Media Commission and the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission.  These institutions were established to promote and safeguard the democracy dividend.
