NEW APPOINTMENTS AT THE ZIMBABWE HUMAN RIGHTS NGO FORUM
On 22 August 2017, the Forum held its Annual General Meeting in Harare. The AGM made the following appointments.
Board Chairperson – Jestina Mukoko
Jestina Mukoko is the Executive Director of the Zimbabwe Peace Project (ZPP). ZPP is a not-for-profit organisation which works for the promotion of sustainable peace in Zimbabwe through monitoring, documentation, advocacy and community peace building interventions. Prior to this appointment, she was the Deputy Chairperson of the Forum.
Deputy Chairperson – Chesterfield Samba
Chesterfield Samba is the Executive Director of the Gays and Lesbians of Zimbabwe (GALZ). GALZ is a not-for-profit organisation that works for the protection of sexual minorities in Zimbabwe. Before his recent appointment, Samba was a member of the Management Committee at the Forum.
Executive Director – Blessing Gorejena
Blessing Gorejena is a lawyer by training with over 10 years experience in human rights work. Gorejena holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Zimbabwe and a Master of Laws Degree from the University of Westminster, UK. Prior to her appointment, she was the Programmes Coordinator at the Forum since 2012.
Other Members of the Management Committee
Other members of the Management Committee are Abigail Matsvai (Zimbabwe Women Lawyers Association) Cousin Zilala (Amnesty International Zimbabwe) and Kudakwashe Chitsike (Research and Advocacy Unit).
