This analysis examines the right to equality and non-discrimination, important principles that should be observed in a society that strives for the promotion and protection of human rights. Further, it considers the extent to which the Government of Zimbabwe has made undertakings to ensure that these rights are fulfilled.
Equality and non-discrimination are rights that are interrelated and they are included together in human rights instruments that seek to promote them. The principle of equality requires a state to take affirmative action in order to diminish or eliminate conditions that cause or help to perpetuate discrimination. The Analysis deals with these issues and also puts a focus on minority rights.
