The Forum undertook a monitoring visit in the Harare central business district, after receiving news of social unrest in the central business district of Harare. The Forum confirmed that there were youth groups, assumed by some to be Tajamuka activists and by others to be ZANU PF youths, who were destroying private and public property. Vehicles, including those belonging to the police, were stoned and some streets were lined with stones. There was police presence around town although it was not as overwhelming as in other episodes of social unrest. The police were armed with baton sticks and tear gas, which was being used moderately. Suspicion reigned that Zanu PF activists were masquerading as anti-government social movements in a bid to discredit them.
