High court Judge Justice Ester Muremba has ordered three Zanu PF supporters to pay $6000 for assaulting an MDC-T supporter in 2008.
The MDC-T supporter Meeting Mugumba (63) of Mount Darwin was assaulted by Zanu PF’s Gibson Matimura, Doughlas Bhobho and Edward Chiunye in Mount Darwin, on the 8th of May 2008 for supporting the Morgan Tsvangirai led MDC-T.

In his affidavit he filed to the High court seeking a compensation of $90 000 000, 00 (Ninety Million Dollars) for damages for “shock, pain and suffering, loss of amenities of life, contumelia and the value of property unlawfully damaged by the three Zanu PF supporters Mugumba said the three took turns to assault with sticks while pinning his head to the ground.

“I suffered excruciating pain and had to lean on my wife as we walked back home after the meeting.
“I still have the metal supporting my right arm to this day. Consequently, I constantly experience throbbing pain in my right arm.
“This pain is worst on cold days. In addition I can no longer perform heavy duties. This has a negative impact on my life because I relied on peasant farming and taking up welding jobs for survival”.
In her judgement this week Justice Muremba said the three Zanu PF supporters should pay Mugumba the $6 000 for the injuries he sustained as a result of the brutal attacks.

Meet“The Respondents shall pay to the Applicant jointly and severally, the one paying the other to be absolved, the total sum of US$ 6 000, 00 (Six Thousand United States Dollars Only) together with interest at the prescribed rate from the date of summons to date of full and final payment. Respondents shall pay costs of suit”.
